In many ways, TOMS has become the poster child for social good. From the very beginning, they've followed a simple model: When you purchase something, they give something similar to someone in need: One for One ®. This year has been a big one for TOMS. They gave their 10 millionth pair of shoes, their Sight-Giving initiative has now helped more than 150,000 people, they began creating jobs in Haiti and they opened their flagship store. Yet, as always, they want to do more to support developing nations and alleviate poverty.

Words cannot express the devastation my TOMS Family is experiencing today, as we mourn the loss of our beloved Mike Hammer. But my friend Brad sent our community an email this morning, which inspired me to articulate - albeit, briefly - the AWESOMENESS of Mike Hammer:
Hammer was a husband, father, son, friend, crusader, servant, vagabond (in the most beautiful sense), incredible lover of people, and a constant reminder that "It's alllllllll love"! His generosity of love - the way he eagerly gave it to anyone in need - was truly humbling to experience. ![]() The past two weeks have had adventure written all over them. Last Monday, I moved into a motel with twelve other intrepid rebels with a cause from all over the country. We -- and the others who will join us in the forthcoming days -- have recently become the newest members of the TOMS family... We comprise the FIRST EVER TOMS Vagabond Crew. This is truly a historic occasion. For the next eight weeks, we will be booking a national campus tour. Come October, we’ll hit the road in teams of three, touring regionally in the NW, SW, TX/MW, SE and NE, visiting several high schools and college campuses every week. Along the way, we will be blogging, filming and documenting this experience of a lifetime for all TOMS fans to share with us. |
